Fire Stations

Northeast Burnet County Emergency Services District 8 encompasses 202.91 square miles in the northeastern portion of Burnet County, including Briggs, Oakalla and the surrounding areas. Currently, the district is serviced by a full-time Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, and a team of hard-working volunteer firefighters, with two fully operational fire stations in Briggs and Oakalla, as well as an outpost in Watson, Texas.
Command Central: Fire Station No. 2
Fire Station No. 2 opened in 2023 to support our growing community and improve emergency response times. Now serving as our headquarters and command hub, its central location allows us to better support neighboring stations and volunteer firefighters. The station also houses our administrative and training facilities, as well as the offices of Fire Chief Forrest Freitag and Assistant Chief Clayton Potter.
